Sugar, Sugar and More Sugar!

Sugar has a bad rap sheet when it comes to sweets.  It can add extra pounds to the mid-section and do a serious negative make over to your teeth! But sugar is not bad for your skin. Actually it is quite good for the skin. Let’s explore just how good this sugary sweet stuff is for your skin First, sugar is a natural humectant - it draws moisture from the environment into the skin. So when you apply products with sugar or sugar derivatives, they'll actually help hydrate your skin and keep moisture within. Secondly, sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates the skin and breaks down the "glue" that bonds skin cells, encouraging cell turnover and generating fresher, younger-looking skin. Finally, sugar's small particles make an excellent body polish/exfoliant, and are used in a number of body scrubs to exfoliate dead surface skin cells and reveal the glowing, healthy-looking skin underneath.   1. Small sugar granules are generally gentler than salt, which can cause microscopic tears in the skin

  • Brown Sugar
  • Olive Oil
  • A Few drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance (optional).

You only need to use a topical sugar scrub about twice per week.
